2. Toilet cleaning
Although some toilets are finished in such a way that they do not get dirty quickly, stains in the toilet bowl can still occur. The minerals in the layer of water in the toilet bowl can cause discolouration of the porcelain. If the water is rich in minerals (‘hard water’), brown and rusty rings may be a problem. If you do not deal with it quickly, you are going to need a lot of acidic cleaning agents to get those stains out. Over time, this type of product can affect the porcelain, not to mention the damage that such products can cause to the skin, eyes, nose and throat. Prevention is better than cure in this case. First of all, make sure that everyone in the family always flushes the toilet. Secondly, add this simple job to your weekly cleaning: sprinkle a cup of baking soda in the toilet bowl. Leave it in for 30 minutes, then spray or sprinkle some vinegar (a mild acid) to moisten. Scrub with the toilet brush, and then just flush!
